Budapest - Hungary 2008

And we have another different winner of the Hungarian Grand Prix for now the seventh year running, this time going to Mclaren’s Hekki Kovalainen, his first Formula One Grand Prix win.

From the start of the race it seemed that Hamilton was not going to progress from his pole position start, with the Ferrari of Felipe Massa powering to the lead.

The race seemed very straightforward from that point, it really seemed like there was going to be a Ferrari winner and a Mclaren in second position. The first round of pit stops saw the Ferrari continue to lead, however Hamilton was fuelled up slightly more to go in to the next stint of the race.

Disaster struck when Hamilton lost the position following a front left puncture, which saw him make an emergency pit stop. Massa took full advantage of this, and was cruising to the finish line with Kovalainen in 2nd, and the amazingly Timo Gock in the Toyota in third position.

The race wasn’t in Hamilton’s favour, however just three laps to the finish, the Red Ferrari of race leader Felipe Massa, gave up with what seemed to be engine failure, on the start/ finish straight, leaving the door open for Hekki to take his maiden victory.
